Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a visual examination of the bladder. A telescope is passed into the bladder via the water pipe and then the inside of the bladder is inspected after filling it up with water or saline. Abnormal areas can be biopsied (tissue taken for microscopic examination)
The procedure can be done under local anaesthetic (you are awake), or under general anaesthetic.
It typically takes 5-10 minutes.
Post-operatively you should feel fine, occasionally it may be a little sore for the few times that you pass urine. You might have a little blood in the urine, especially if you had a biopsy taken
